Need to sign up Moses permanently asap...
It was clear we were looking to drive down the left hand flank predominantly. Don't think Lanzini did anything wrong however the ball didn't get near him too often as Haidara is a pretty good player and think we chose to avoid him.

I would agree with all that, but one thing I think few have mentioned is that Newcastle are a decent team, just lack a cutting edge in the final third. They had a lot of possession for an away team and many were saying before the game that they have not played badly yet.

There was not too much that could be done about our two individual goals. I think Newcastle will be mid table, they should be after spending £50m.

An excellent victory and delighted with the win.

Maybe it was going one up early on or because it was 2am in the morning but I was a little disappointed we didn't put them under more pressure. Maybe it wasn't necessary but would prefer more possession at home/

And the atmosphere was hardly electric. Some very good individual performances though.

Chelsea fans erupt on Twitter after Victor Moses stars for West Ham in Newcastle win

Victor Moses shone on his debut for West Ham against Newcastle
The Chelsea winger was sent out on loan to the Hammers in the summer transfer window and played a starring role in their 2-0 win over Newcastle at Upton Park tonight.

Moses was a constant threat and muscled his way through the visiting defence before hitting a shot against the bar that was converted by Dimitri Payet from the rebound.

The 28-year-old is starting his third loan spell since moving to Stamford Bridge from Wigan in 2012.

And Chelsea fans, whose mood has been further dampened by their terrible start to the current Premier League season, are not happy.

Ironically, it was only West Ham's win that prevented Jose Mourinho's side from dropping into the bottom three.

However, the Blues faithful are livid with their recent performances and appear to be missing their loan star.

A group of supporters vented their frustrations online, with some suggesting he has even been their best player this season - for their rivals.

Here's how they reacted to Moses' debut for the Hammers.

Definitely agree with those of you who say the Moses situation was handled very poorly by the club this summer.

Has Victor Moses been Chelsea's best player this season?

Victor Moses, one of Chelsea's army of loanees, turns in a man of the match display just to further improve Jose's mood.

Victor Moses keeping us out the relegation places. I knew there was a reason we gave him a new 4yr and sent him out on loan #CFC

Victor Moses has the kind of pace, strength and intent that a club like, say, Chelsea could do with right now.

Probably his best game at holding the ball up and bringing it down with Collocini all over him.
Deserved a goal tonight

Payet, what can you say, probably in pure skill not up with PDC but he has a far better impact overall

Tonight I saw glimpses of some of the best West Ham football since I began following this shower of shit, some 40 years back.

And it is SO refreshing to have a manager with genuine passion. Even 1 minute into added minutes he was on the line, shouting and gesticulating.

I think the phrase you looking for is game management, we had it in spades, thats what i hope to see against the dirty spuds this season

Re: West Ham v Newcastle - Official Match Thread FT 2-0
Was thinking in the second half they were probably a bit exasperated. They had a fair bit of the ball and huffed and puffed then a couple of times we turned on the quality and scored.
I like seeing other teams ineffective and scared of what we can do.

Felt a bit bad for Lanzini, did well in the build-up to 1st goal, more noticeable after 60 mins when he went off as the game slowed down after the 2nd (im guessing in preperation for Man City game). Think we probably would have got 3 if he'd stayed on.

Re: West Ham v Newcastle - Official Match Thread FT 2-0
What I liked most was that we played within ourselves - as Sven says, comfortable. It's the first match in a long while where I felt we didn't need players to stretch every last muscle to perform. It didn't need lung-busting runs or last-ditch tackles. I think the formation has a lot to do with that. I couldn't actually tell you the last time what I'd call a genuine 4-2-3-1, if ever.

Next step is to get more of the ball - a team in better form would have made 60% count against us.

Will be interesting to see if some of the fringe players get a game in cup. The competition could fierce if some of them take their chances.

Agree sakho is a beast up front. Really deserved a goal but his presence gave payet and Moses loads of space. Hope carroll can get to his level.

We beat them with quality and thought we set up nicely defensively and held them at bay quite comfortably.
Let them have a bit too much (ineffective) possession for my liking and Bilic will have to do a bit more thinking about the balance of the team at home.
Song being back should help us keep the ball better.

We are coming together nicely and I still think we have a few more gears once the players get used to each other.
Enjoying watching this team.
Thought Randolph was solid and has done a great job.
Jenkinson looked like Jenkinson again and thought Tomkins was immaculate.

If Moses can perform like that week in week out and sharpen up which he will with games we've got a real player.

Didn't even see Antonio and Jelavic tonight. Absolute SQUAD.
